'GAZİANTEP METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY GENERATION ELECTRICITY BY USING THE METHANE GAS FROM THE SOLID WASTE AT THE REGULAR STORAGE AREA’ PROJECT

Now our company is carrying on the “Energy Production Projects from the Methane Gas (Landfill-LFG) composed at the Solid Waste Storage Area” with the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and Bolu Municipality. And at the same time carries on the R&D operations regarding the evaluation of gas composed at the solid waste storage area to be used as fuel (CNG - Compressed Natural Gas) on vehicles as an alternative energy.

Our energy production project from gas (Landfill) at the Gaziantep solid waste storage area is a project that is being performed by build operate method. The project in subject is one of the fast realized projects in the country by a period of 10 months. Established power capacity as being had received “Manufacture License” form the Energy Market Inspection Institution.

With this project around 130,000 tons carbon emission will be reduced annually.  As it is known methane gas composed at solid waste areas has negative effect on global warming besides being explosive. This negative effect is called greenhouse gas. This gas is 21 times the carbon dioxide effect of the same volume.

 

Our company had completed the required project design and license operations for electric production by receiving the operation of  “Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Management of the solid Waste Regular Storage Area and Electric Production Plant by Using the Methane Gas From the Solid Wastes at the Storage Area

Technical staff is brought from both the country and South Korea for performing the detailed analysis of solid wastes at the project design and storage area and analysis and measurements had been performed


Our company and the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality had arranged a project presentation meeting at which the Korea Ghazis who had attended the Korea War being at Gaziantep and South Korea ambassador were present under the motto “We are carrying the friendship from history to future generations”.  

Following the detailing of the operation to be performed within the scope of the project, by opening 38 units of bores of depths changing in between 8 meter and 41 meter, with a 800mm diameter for the collection of gas from approximately 3.000.000 tons at the storage area on 13 March 2009 perforate HDPE pipes of 200-250 mm are placed inside and the gas collection pipes were composed. Horizontal piping is made by HDPE pipes with length of 7643m, diameter of 110mm in total for transportation of the gas from these 38 units of vertical gas collection funnels opened to central points and their top is covered by impermeable earth layer.

 

Following the detailing of the operation to be made within the scope of the project, on order to collect the gas from approximately solid waste at the storage area   38 units of bores are opened with depths varying in between 8 - 41 meters, with a diameter of 800mm and perforated HDPE pipes of 200-250 mm are placed inside and gas collection funnels are composed. For carrying the gas from among these 38 units of vertical gas collection funnel to central points horizontal piping is made by HDPE pipes of 7643 meters length and 110 mm diameter and their top is covered by impermeable earth layer.
